5 Pregnancy Myths

With easy access to the internet and the appearance of blogs and news forums, we are constantly bombarded with information from everywhere. There is nothing wrong with that, if we know what to filter. What happens is that, there is a tremendous difficulty in distinguishing real news from the fake ones.
In this post, we present you with some myths related with the gestation period and we will, of course, clarify them.
We warn you in advance that some of them will make you laugh out loud.

1- The pregnant woman should eat for two.

Now, this is one of the myths that we hear the most and perhaps it is a “motto” that many moms follow because they think it is true. It is completely normal that during the gestation period, future mothers can feel desires for some specific foods. However, this does not mean that you should eat wherever you want to. Food, even during pregnancy, must be as healthy and balanced as possible, in order to provide pregnant women and their respective babies the necessary nutrients, so that everything runs as smoothly as possible. In fact, the caloric needs of  pregnant women only increase by about 300 Kcal per day. Although caloric and nutrient requirements increase during pregnancy, it does not mean that mom should "eat for two", but better.
Remember to always prioritize health.

2- If you suffer from heartburn, the baby will be born hairy.

This myth is one of the most absurd we have ever heard and hopefully when it is said it is just for fun and not to be taken seriously. Heartburn can be triggered by several factors, including hormonal changes that occur due to pregnancy.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it is not related to the baby's hair at all.

3- Physical exercise is harmful to pregnancy

If you have always had an active life and exercise regularly, this should not change because you are pregnant.
In fact, it is proven that performing physical activity during pregnancy can even help in labor.
At the outset, if it is a normal and risk-free pregnancy, there will be no problem in continuing to exercise, however, the exercises should be lighter and always approved by your doctor.

4- The sex of the baby is related to the size and shape of the mother's belly.

The myth says that if the belly is round, it is a girl, if it is pointed, a boy. This is another myth that has no real point. If so, it would save us time and money. The only factors that have an influence on the size of the belly are only the size and position of the baby in the womb.

5- The baby is unaware of what happens "out there".

It is more than proven that the baby recognizes the voice of the mother, the father and whether or not he is in a calm and peaceful environment, eventually recognizing and capturing various information that take place outside. Hence it is important that the period of pregnancy is as relaxed as possible.
Therefore, this also turns out to be a myth without any foundation.

We then came to the end of the 5 very common myths to be heard during pregnancy. Hopefully you enjoyed it or at least had fun. Have you heard any of these myths? what was the most "unreasonable" you heard?
